WIL is thrilled to welcome back Michele Goodwin, engaging law professor and women's rights advocate!

Michele Goodwin has been one of our most dynamic and beloved speakers over the past decade. When she left UCI Law School for Georgetown several years ago, we feared we would lose her expertise on women's reproductive rights and the constitution, as well as her brilliant and engaging personality.

She assured us that she'd come back to speak to us again. Promises made, promises kept!

The last time we heard from Michele, Roe had just been overturned. She explained how women's rights advocates were looking at the new landscape and what we could expect going forward. Sadly, her dire predictions have mostly come true. 

Now Michele will offer an overview of the current state of women's rights and the war on women in America, as well as a recap of the November election results and what they might mean for our future.

Michele is an internationally recognized expert on women’s rights, reproductive health and constitutional law, including the erosion of our reproductive rights, Michele has been featured in Politico, Salon, Forbes, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Chicago Sun-Times, NPR, and Ms. Magazine among others. The Orange County Registrar has reported final results for the 2022 general election, and we are thrilled to announce that 27 WIL candidates have been elected or reelected.

WIL was able to donate to a record number of women this year thanks to the generosity of our members and supporters. We are so proud of all the women who stepped up to represent our values and protect our rights, including those who will win next time! 

Below is a list of the WIL Women who won in 2022 and a few races we want to highlight. We're also pleased to report that Proposition 1 passed with 67% of the vote, meaning that abortion rights will now be enshrined in the California Constitution.
