Republicans for Choice is a national organization dedicated to preserving women’s reproductive freedom. We all know from our friend Eileen Padberg (who will introduce Anne) how tough the road is for those Republicans who believe as we all do at WIL, that reproductive choices should be made by a woman and her doctor and not by the government. We know from our Republican WIL members the problems created by going against party dogma on this issue. Anne has shown great courage and persistence in her fight to bring the Republican Party to a position consistent with its view that government should not interfere with an individual’s liberties. Anne will be a fascinating speaker, telling us about her struggles within the Republican Party as well as how DC and the country looks from the perspective of a Republican pro-choice activist. In addition to her reproductive rights activism, Anne has been an advocate for 30 years on other issues of importance to women and has appeared on numerous television programs speaking about these issues. Anne is also the co-founder and on the Board of the National Women’s History Museum, which is still a work in progress with various controversies swirling around it; she will tell us about the purpose and progress of the Museum. This is one lunch you won’t want to miss.
