BETTY YEE IS RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR AND SHE'LL BE OUR SPEAKER ON MAY 31!

WIL welcomed Betty to speak at a luncheon in 2018, when she was California's Controller. Now, hot off the press, she's running to succeed Gavin Newsom in 2026, and we have the good fortune to welcome her as a speaker again!

A native of San Francisco, Betty was born to immigrant parents who ran a laundry and dry cleaning business. She worked in the laundry when not in school, dealing with customers, translating for her parents, and assisting with their accounting. Those early jobs helped Betty in her job of running California's finances.

Now she's ready to vie for the top job in the state.

A graduate of UC Berkeley, Betty has spent 35 years in public service and local and state office. Throughout that time, she has been a champion of women's and civil rights. She's also someone we know to open, honest and funny.

WIL was proud to endorse Betty when she ran for Controller in 2014 and 2018. Now we are excited to hear about her plan to become California's first woman governor.
