WIL is delighted to welcome back Fiona Ma, California's 34th State Treasurer and a candidate for Lieutenant Governor

We endorsed Fiona Ma when she ran for State Treasurer in 2018. In addition to winning with more votes than any other candidate for that office in history, she became the first woman of color to be elected to that position. She was reelected in 2022, also with WIL’s endorsement.
Now Fiona is ready to continue her public service as our state's Lieutenant Governor.
We look forward to hearing about her plans to grow California’s economy, protect our civil and reproductive rights, make healthcare accessible, tackle the housing and affordability crises, and ensure that our government work for all of us.
The oldest child of immigrant parents who taught her the value of education, hard work and financial discipline, Fiona moved to San Francisco with her family in 1985. She put herself through college and graduate school before winning a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 2002. She was subsequently elected to the California Assembly and State Board of Equalization before taking office as Treasurer.
Fiona is a longtime friend of WIL and a terrific speaker. We always love to hear her because she’s smart, insightful, funny, and knows how California government works inside and out.
