Join Us for Lunch With Guest Speaker
MICHELE GOODWIN, UCI PROFESSOR OF LAW
We have entered new and troubling waters as supporters of women’s reproductive rights. Michele is one of the most engaging and knowledgeable experts in the nation to help us try to understand the stormy seas we are now facing and where the new ship of state might take us.
Michele is the Chancellor’s Professor of Law at UCI and also holds appointments in the UCI Departments of Public Health and Gender and Sexuality Studies. She is a nationally recognized scholar in the fields of reproductive justice, human trafficking and the role of law in science, medicine and biotechnology. She has written dozens of articles and books, including her new book, Policing the Womb, a chilling study of how states are now using criminal laws as a tool to incarcerate, punish and humiliate poor pregnant women. Those who heard her speak to us in 2015 will vividly remember her as a remarkable speaker with deep insight into the many ways women’s reproductive rights are being eroded throughout the country.
