Joan Biskupic: The Supreme Court

Joan is spending a portion of the academic year as a Visiting Professor at the UCI Law School on a one-year sabbatical from her position at Reuters where she is an editor in charge of Legal Affairs.
Joan has recently joined CNN as legal analyst and Supreme Court biographer. She has covered the Supreme Court for 25 years and has written several books on the Court, including books on Sonia Sotomayor, Antonin Scalia, Sandra Day O’Connor, and currently, Chief Justice John Roberts. She was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2015.
Before joining Reuters, she was the Supreme Court reporter for The Washington Post and for USA Today. She is a regular panelist on PBS’s Washington Week. She is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center.
Joan has agreed to take time out of her incredibly busy schedule to talk to us. Her life has been overloaded for the past year due to the on-going turmoil on the Supreme Court since the death of Antonin Scalia, keeping her valuable time absorbed with speeches and interviews, attending Congressional hearings, and writing articles, plus of course her classes at the UCI Law School.
The Executive Commons Room in the MPAA Building at UCI
We will be meeting in The Executive Commons room in the small building attached to the Social Science Parking Structure (the building is on the campus side of the parking structure, and the room is on the ground level in the far corner from the parking structure) The building is called “MPAA” and is in red on the below map. Directions to the structure and for parking:
Driving to UC Irvine:
If you are coming from NORTH of Irvine (Los Angeles area):
Take the 405 freeway south just past the 55 freeway. Take the Jamboree Road exit. Turn right onto Jamboree Road. Turn left onto Campus Drive. The campus will be a couple of miles ahead on the right.
If you are coming from SOUTH of Irvine (San Diego area):
Take the 405 freeway north. Take the Jamboree Road exit. Turn left onto Jamboree Road. Turn left onto Campus Drive. The campus will be a couple of miles ahead on the right.
If you are coming from EAST of Irvine (Riverside area):
Take the 91 freeway west to the 55 freeway south. Take the 55 freeway south to the 405 freeway south. Take the Jamboree Road exit. Turn right onto Jamboree Road. Turn left onto Campus Drive. The campus will be a couple of miles ahead on the right.
Parking for the MPAA Building:
From Campus Drive, turn in toward the campus at the light at Stanford to immediately enter the Social Sciences Parking Structure.
All-Day ($10) or By-The-Hour ($2/hour) parking passes can be purchased at the kiosk located in the right lane entrance to the parking structure. You may park in any stall that does not have reserved signage.
There will be an attendant who can assist them and whom they can pay- (cash, or CC )
