January Luncheon with Dean Bernadette Boden-Albala

Knowledge is power: The vital role of comprehensive sex education in shaping an informed electorate

We are thrilled to announce that the speaker for our first luncheon of the new year will be Bernadette Boden-Albala (bio here), MPH, DrPH, Director of the UC Irvine Program in Public Health and Founding Dean of the future UC Irvine School of Population and Public Health.

With more than 30 years of experience, Dean Boden-Albala is one of the country's leading experts in her field and a truly dynamic speaker. She'll discuss the nexus between public health, health equity and reproductive health, and the role comprehensive sexual education plays in empowering young men and women to make good health decisions for themselves and to become lifelong defenders of science-based knowledge.

For the sake of the 5.8 million K-12 students in California, we must act now to tackle the anti-science culture that is infecting our school systems. It will take elected officials, educators, school board administrators, healthcare providers, caretakers - the "Village" - to raise a more informed and discerning citizen of the future.

Every election cycle, Women in Leadership gets behind local school board candidates who believe in science and evidence-based thinking, and understand how high the stakes are. 2024 will be no exception. Thank you to all of our members who allow WIL to support these courageous women.

Please join us for what will be a fascinating, informative and energizing luncheon.
