Join us at our February luncheon for a conversation with gubernatorial candidate Betty Yee, who will tell us all about her campaign and her plans to lead our great state

We are excited to welcome back Betty Yee, a true public servant, lifelong champion of women's and civil rights, and good friend of WIL.
Betty has more than 40 years' experience in public service. After two terms on the State Board of Equalization, she ran successfully (with WIL's endorsement) for State Controller in 2014, becoming only the tenth woman in California history to be elected to statewide office (can you believe that?). She won reelection in 2018, earning the highest number of votes of any candidate on the ballot nationwide that year.
A native of San Francisco, Betty was born to immigrant parents who ran a laundry and dry cleaning business. She worked in the laundry when not in school, dealing with customers, translating for her parents, and assisting with accounting.
Those early jobs helped Betty prepare for her job as chief fiscal officer of the world's fifth-largest economy.
Now she's ready to bring all those financial skills, and all she has learned over four decades in public service about effective government that delivers opportunity, justice, fairness and accountability, to the top job in the state.
This is the second luncheon in our series designed to introduce you to the leading female candidates for the highest offices in California. Please join us for this talk and Q&A with the always wise, always inspiring and always entertaining Betty Yee.
